Making free ringtones for iPhone is easy. This tutorial helps you make a free ringtone for your iPhone using iTunes and the music you like.
1. If you do not have iTunes on the computer, download it using the following link http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
2. Connect your iPhone to the computer
3. Open iTunes and find the song you want to turn into a ringtone by selecting the 'Music' menu.
Tips: You can accelerate your search with the Search tool. Just start typing the name of the song and you will be presented with a list of music files that match your search criteria.
4. Play the song to find the part you want to use as a ringtone.
5. Then right-click the song and select 'Information', click on the Parameters menu and type in the start time in the 'Start time' field and the stop time of your song in the 'Stop time' field, click OK. The ringtone cannot be longer than 40 sec, so select the portion of 40 sec or less.
6. Right-click the song again and select 'Convert to AAC format'. iTunes will convert your song and it will appear in the list.
7. Right-click the future ringtone and select 'Show in Internet Explorer'.
8. Change the format of the song by replacing the m4a extension to m4r.
9. To play your ringtone, double-click on it.
10 And the last step - synchronize your iPhone with iTunes.
